Area belly dancers and musicians will gather to raise funds and awareness for the Family Crisis Center-CAP Services, an organization that assists individual and families directly affected by domestic violence. The sixth annual event takes place Saturday, October 15, 2011 at the Moose Lodge Family Center in Stevens Point from 5:00-8:00 p.m. The year’s program features more cultural diversity from local dance groups, showcasing area belly dancers and musicians from Stevens Point, Nekoosa, Eau Claire, Appleton and Wausau.
Dance and drumming performances begin at 5:00 p.m. and continue until 8:00 p.m. In addition, this year’s event features various special activities throughout the evening, including henna art, palm reading, door prizes and a clothing bazaar by SHAMA, Inc.
There is a suggested attendee donation of $5 at the door. Food and beverages are available throughout the evening. Indian cuisine will be served as part of the fundraiser (options include a vegetarian plate for $6.00 or a chicken dinner for $7.00). An open participation group dance will conclude the event.
This event and Master Workshop is sponsored by Ray One Women, UWSP Women’s Studies Program and SHAMA, Inc.
