7th Annual Belly Dance Fundraising Event

Area belly dancers and musicians will gather to raise funds and awareness for the Family Crisis Center-CAP Services, an organization that assists individual and families directly affected by domestic violence. The sixth annual event takes place Saturday, October 15, 2011 at the Moose Lodge Family Center in Stevens Point from 5:00-8:00 p.m. The year’s program features more cultural diversity from local dance groups, showcasing area belly dancers and musicians from Stevens Point, Nekoosa, Eau Claire, Appleton and Wausau.


Dance and drumming performances begin at 5:00 p.m. and continue until 8:00 p.m. In addition, this year’s event features various special activities throughout the evening, including henna art, palm reading, door prizes and a clothing bazaar by SHAMA, Inc.


There is a suggested attendee donation of $5 at the door. Food and beverages are available throughout the evening. Indian cuisine will be served as part of the fundraiser (options include a vegetarian plate for $6.00 or a chicken dinner for $7.00). An open participation group dance will conclude the event.

The sixth annual event will take place on October 16, 2010 at the Moose Lodge Family Center in Stevens Point from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. This year’s program will feature more cultural diversity from local dance groups, showcasing area bellydancers and musicians from Stevens Point, Nekoosa, Marshfield, Appleton, and Wausau.

Dance and drumming performances will begin at 5:00 p.m. and continue until 8:00 p.m. In addition to the performances, this year’s event will feature various special activities throughout the evening, including henna art, palmreading, and a clothing bazaar by Shama, Inc. To raise additional funds for the Family Crisis Center, we will have a gift basket raffle. There will be a suggested attendee donation of $5 at the door. Date Set for Fifth Annual Belly Dance Benefit

Area belly dancers and musicians will gather to celebrate the work of the Portage County Family Crisis Center, and to bring light to domestic violence issues, on November 14, 2009 at the Moose Lodge Family Center, Stevens Point. The fifth annual event will begin at 5:00 p.m. with a silent auction of gifts and services donated by local businesses.
Food and beverages will also be available throughout the evening. A dance and drumming performance will begin at 5:00 until 8:00 with an open dance for all to participate. Indian cuisine will be served this in addition to this year’s fundraiser. Vegetarian plate at $6.00 and a Chicken dinner at $7.00. The program will showcase area belly dancers and musicians from Stevens Point, Nekoosa, Marshfield, Appleton and Wausau. There is a suggested donation of $5 at the door. Teens must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

2009 Calendars Available!

As part of the 2008 Benefit, Ray-One Women created a calendar featuring professional photos of the dancers who performed at the 2007 benefit.  2009 Calendars are available for purchase. The cost per calendar is $12.00, plus $3.00 shipping.  Other than the mailing costs, all calendar proceeds go directly to the Portage County Family Crisis Center.  If you are interested in purchasing a calendar, please email bellydancebenefit@gmail.com
